New food

My co-worker introduced me to Almond Milk today. It was delicious. Who knew?! I bought some of the original kind. Though I think the Vanilla one could be perfect in my homemade Chai.

  1. Sounds yummy...rice milk tastes good, too. Is there a health benefit to these over regular milk?

  2. Just asked my co-worker (pictured above) and he said that he doesn't think there's much health benefit, no protein or calcium added. Soy milk has more protein (though he says soy milk has issues too). It's more about the negative health impacts of dairy milk. When I asked him to elaborate on this he articulated some pretty convincing and gruesome reasons to step away from the cow milk. Namely the environmental impacts of cow production, the way we can get the same vitamins if not more from things like broccoli and also the hormones and antibiotics that you get from the cow milk (since the mass production of milk neccessitates they pump up the cow with all sorts of gross stuff.) He said the local organic cow milk is at least better in that department. ( but he noted.. it's still bad for you). Oh dear I love my coworkers.

  5. Hee hee, Cherise yeah I feel ya'. Even though steak isn't my go to food, I tell you, put me near some brownies....
